Alan Garland

Dear June and Garland Family,

I was just told of Alan’s passing.
I am devastated.

I feel like I just saw him not too long ago and he seemed so healthy. I was going to call him in a few days for his birthday.

Alan was a great lawyer and a wonderful mentor and friend to me. Without his red pen and guidance, I would not the attorney I am today. I can still hear him when I draft documents.

My sympathies are with all of you.

Bannockburn Bath & Tennis brought us together about 30 years ago – shared lots of fun memories there & watched Julie & Jeff mature into wonderful adults.

We enjoyed dinner together in Scottsdale and as late as this past May when you looked so good after back surgery. I can just see you come downstairs and say, Hi Ladies…I want to see what’s good for me to eat, as we played Canasta. We all worried about you from day to day –

Alan, you will be missed by all who knew you and may you rest in peace.

June and family I was saddened when I read the notice about Alan’s Passing. I remember Alan helping you at the Foundation events. I was sad to read of my doctors Fathers passing. When I saw Dr. Garland on Thursday, he was as always a caring former neighbor and friend to me. Yes, life is so fragile!! We had dinner with Alan and June here in Scottsdale on March 12th.He was so happy,and looked so healthy and delighted to be back in Arizona.His back was hurting him and had to leave here early. Now 6 months later he is gone. How fragile life is and how important for all of us who are growing old together to live in the moment and make each day count. We are blessed to have known Alan. He was truly a gentle, kind, giving person. I don’t think I ever heard him say anything bad about any one.He loved when we played mahjongg at his house because June would bring in treats. Which he Loved!!!We watched Jeff and Julie grow up with our children and celebrated all the special moments with them.Alan was so proud of his children and grandchildren and had a special light in his eyes when he talked about them.
